Five lodges on a hillside in South West Scotland. Eight metres of glass, and the Solway Firth in front of you. On a clear day you can see the Lake District. On a good evening, the Isle of Man.
Gatehouse Luxury Lodges sits two miles outside Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfries and Galloway — quiet enough that the red kites circle overhead, close enough that you can walk into town through Cally Woods without getting in a car. Three of the five lodges welcome dogs. All five are single-level and accessible. None of them have hot tubs, and our guests tell us they don’t miss them.
The lodges were designed and built by me, James, and I still run the place personally. Most guests come for the view and the quiet. A good number come back.
